Haylee tightened her grip around her black and white stripped purse as she walked into Starbucks. She was planning on getting a coffee, she hadn't had one the whole day and she couldn't stay without one for too long. Not that this was way too long, it was just long. She ran her right hand through her, her new purse in her left hand. She held it so tightly, no one could take it away from her.She had some money in it, but that wasn't why she didn't want anyone to take it away from her.It was because the purse was new and the last one in the shop she had bought it in.Haylee didn't even remember the name of the shop, but she really didn't care. She waited in the long line for a while, just holding her purse and running her hand through her hair, untill it was finally her turn. She ordered a coffee and grabbed it quickly before it was even handed to her.Haylee sat on a chair by a nearby, empty table and sipped her coffee. She felt something hot on top of her tongue so she decided to wait first and not burn her tongue completely as she usually did.She looked at her purse that was now placed on the table with her hand over it.Moving her hand to her hair, she sighed.Maybe she wouldn't have to hold her purse all the time, maybe no one would even notice it, anyway.

Starbucks was only another way of life for Emmalee. A cup of coffee in the morning, and the rest of her day was unpredictable. However, those were the best kinds of days, the ones that no one planned. Where anything was to be expected and nothing went the way you dreamed it would when you woke up that morning.
Sitting in a corner chair, sipping at a caramel, toffe nut macchiatto, Emmalee watched the hustle and bustle of the morning crowd. People rushing off to work or school, some taking their time while reading a magazine or newspaper, others dragging along screaming, and crying kids, and still others who were sitting at a table, gossiping while finishing up their coffee.
Then, there was Lianna, everyone called her by her middle name. It always came as a surprise to Emmalee as to why she would let people do that. If she had a name like Lianna, she'd use it every second of every day. Lianna was the type of person to stereotype against preps like herself. They were apparently all rich snobs who got everything they wanted with the money in daddy's pocket, but that wasn't the case for all of them. Sure, some of them did, but, for the most part, the preps in the school were unique, and individual people who were fun to hang out with.
Emmalee studied the mess of a blonde, as she clung to her purse with dear life, grabbing her coffee as if it were the last in the world. Smiling slightly to herself, Emmalee watched as she scurried off to find a seat, which happened to be the seat right next to hers.
"It's really none of my business, but..I don't think anyone's interested in your purse..they'd rather have caffeine in their system and be on their way..although..it is cute."
She offered a warm and friendly smile to the girl sitting beside her, extending a hand while holding on to her coffee with the other.
"I'm Emmalee. We go to school together."
She knew about Lianna, she was labeled a sex puppet. It was an unfair stereotype, after all, almost everyone in that school, behind closed doors, was doing the same thing. Even Emmalee, in all of her "perfection", wasn't as innocent as some people would have loved to believe.

Haylee didn't even pay attention to the girl she was sitting beside. Not before she spoke to her.Sure, she saw her, but she didn't have a better look.If she did, she would have known who it was.It was Emmalee, from her school. She was one of the preps that Haylee disliked so much, but she always acted so nice and didn't seem all stuck up and bitchy as Haylee imagined her to be.
"I suppose you're right." Haylee said, slightly nodding in agreement."...and thanks." she added with a smile, running her finger over the edge of the cup.
"I know, I saw you around the school.I'm Haylee." she said, grabbing the cup of coffee. She took a sip of it and then turned to Emmalee."Actually, I'm Lianna Haylee, but everyone calls me Haylee...you know." she said, with a weak smile.
Haylee felt weird talking to someone who she was supposed to dislike but actually didn't.She though for a few moments, what could she possibly think of her?Maybe pity was the reason why she talked to her in the first place.Or maybe she was just being nice.Haylee shook off the thoughts and glanced at Emmalee.
"Nice to meet you." "

A warm, friendly smile was offered to the blonde girl sitting beside her. It was obvious that they had known each other even before introducing themselves to one another. Legend Falls may have been a big town, but at heart, it was a tiny, and humble town. One where everyone knew almost everything about one another Rumors, lies, gossip, cheaters, who's business was successful and who's was losing hope. Everyone knew everyone else's name.
Lianna Haylee, Emmalee knew of her, her secrets, the gossip about her, the latest rumor, and of course, her stereotype, not only which one she belonged to, but also, how she stereotyped. Emmalee was a prep, which automatically made her a stuck up, snobby little rich girl who got everything she wanted handed to her on a silver platter, and let's not mention the spoiled part, what would she be without daddy's money?
Emmalee was anything except the above stereotype. Sure she was a prep, but she wasn't rich. She came from an average, broken family. Broken used in the sense in which they didn't live together. Daddy lived a few towns over, working for a dental practice, and mom and herself lived in Legend Falls, mom was the general manager for magnolia cafe, an elegant cafe to eat lunch out at, and at night, a popular teen hang out spot. Emmalee could remember times when she and her friends would all hangout there.
Snapping out of her thoughts, she turned her attention, once more, to the girl sitting next to her. Emmalee smiled nervously, hoping she hadn't gotten caught up in her thoughts for too long, it might have come off as a rude gesture if Haylee had been talking the whole time and Emmalee was unable to respond to it.
"The pleasure is all mine."
A warm smile, and a slight moment of relief that she'd caught the last thing Haylee had said.. "Nice to meet you". She must have had thoughts of her own running through her mind, doubts of why Emmalee was actually talking to her. It could have been a pity thing. Emmalee shook off the thought. She'd show this girl that there were more to preps than a pocket full of money and expensive clothes, shoes and accessories. That some of them, worked for what they had, and actually had personalities, unlike some of the clones she knew.
"So..you're a sophomore right..I heard Mr. Gipilano is giving that huge math exam today for all sophomores..are you nervous?"
It wasn't her intention to come off as bitchy while asking the question, she was just making conversation, trying to be poilte, maybe give advice. She remembered that test, it was hell, and torture. Sitting there for hours on end with nothing but numbers dancing around your tired head, and all the while you were wishing you were still in bed sleeping. It wasn't a hard test though, just boring.

Haylee smiled, biting her bottom lip lightly so it didn't hurt but it still made her less nervous. She hated the fact that she didn't even know why she was so nervous.Of course, it was because she was talking to Emmalee, but she didn't get why she was so special and why she should nervous while talking to her.She was just as normal and nice as any of her friends.Even though, she knew she shouldn't get nervous for such things, she always did get nervous and she hated it.She would've rather spent all day doing her homework than not knowing why she was so freaking nervous.
Haylee smiled more widely and stopped biting her bottom lip when she heard Emmalee say the pleasure was hers. She wouldn't have been acting so friendly if she didn't want to.She probably really was nice and friendly as she seemed to be.She definately didn't have a reason to be nice to Haylee if she didn't want it and Haylee knew that very well.
Haylee gave a hint of a shrug, looking at Emmalee."I don't know.I wasn't really planning on going to that exam, anyway.I'm not that good in maths and I don't want to mess up my grades more than I already have."she said with a small giggle. She was already starting to feel better.More normal, and comfortable.Almost like she was talking to her best friend. It was weird because seconds ago she felt really uncomfortable and she was nervous.Well, more nervous than now.Now she was just a tiny bit nervous, but she wasn't even showing it anymore.
"You took that exam, right? How was it?Boring and easy?...or hard?"
Haylee wanted to know what the exam was like.To know if it was worth missing it and going somewhere else. She'd have to make up something about how she was sick and pretend that her head hurt to have a reason to leave.Maybe if the exam was easy she could just go and do it, even though she hated all the exams of the world...and homework. Then again, what if it was a completely different exam and it was way more hard? That would be bad.Really bad.
Haylee took a sip of her coffee, glancing at Emmalee sideways. She would find out in a second are two, anyway so it was stupid to think about it too much. She was just boring herself with her thoughts and thinking that she might go to the exam and then it ends up hard, made her nervous. She definately didn't want to get nervous again. Not now that she had finally calmed down.

Emmalee giggled. How ironic it was for someone who had based their opinions solely on one's reputation and clique would be so nervous around someone she'd convinced herself she hated.
"It's not hard.."
Conversations were nice, especially with people you were proving wrong. This was amusing for Emmalee, but she knew what it was like to be nervous, embarrassed. After all, she was the last in the school to pick up on the fact that her boyfriend had been cheating on her. Of course, this was not nearly as bad as that, talking to someone you believed you hated, no, this was ten times better.
"It's just really boring."
Another one of those infamous ad warm Emmalee smiles came into play before she took the last sip of her coffee. 7:31 AM, the time the clock on the wall behind the counter showed this time, her cell phone verified it. If the school is approximately ten minutes from the mall, leaving at least ten more minutes to run from her car to the school, and stop at her locker, and homeroom started at 8:00 AM, then Emmalee would have to leave here in ten minutes, give or take.
"I really wouldn't get too concerned over it..but..I wouldn't skip it either.."
It was a major math exam, worth half of your grade for the year, let alone one semester. She remembered kids in her class last year who had skipped that exam, they took a zero. Unless you were sick enough to have a doctor's note stating your case, then you were well enough to take the exam.
The school was tough, but fair. Why should a girl call cramps even if she didn't have them? The rest of the girls, as well as the guys had to sit through this. Why should that one girl be special?

Haylee smiled as she was told the exam was only boring. She really had no problem with that. She studied maths yesterday, just in case she would change her mind and go to the exam.Though, she wasn't very good at maths, so something that wasn't hard for Emmalee might be hard for her. Then again she did study.A lot.Maybe she should just go there anyway and get what she earned?Maybe she really should. It was unusual of her to believe that she should get what she earns, but she knew it was plain right.
"I'm glad it's not hard.I got everything planned for skipping the exam but I think I changed my mind.I might wanna go to it after all." Haylee giggled, glancing at Emmalee."What do you think I should do?"
She felt weird asking a girl she had just met-well, officially met since she knew her before-if she should skip an exam or not.She just felt comfortable enough right now to ask that.Usually she never asked anyone if she should skip an exam or not.She never really asked for advice even if she needed it a lot.She would just stick to sitting alone in her room and thinking what she should do instead of just asking someone who was more experienced.
"I really wouldn't get too concerned over it..but..I wouldn't skip it either.."
Haylee nodded in agreement and looked at her watch. It was time to go to school. She hated that it really was time and she had just a made a new friend who she wanted to talk to a little more and get to know more.Things were always so weird.
"I think I should go to school now.But so should you." she said with a smile."Are you going on foot?Cause I am and if you are we can talk on our way there." she said, grabbing her purse from the table. She stood up and fixed her hair a bit before looking at Emmalee. She wouldn't mind having company on her way to school since it was one of the most boring parts of the day.She always went alone because everyone went with their cars and she just didn't want to even though she had a car.Not a license, though. She only went on foot because she thought it was better for her looks. She jogged to school most of the days.

Time was an issue. She'd enjoyed the conversation with someone new and Lord only knew it wouldn't last once she step foot in the door and her usual crowd surrounded her. The gossip would start and plans would be made after school, crushes eyes would be glistening from down the hall, red cheeks would be seen as she smiled back, flirtacious eyes being thrown into the play while friends hooted and cheered in the background, and of course ex's would be there to ruin the moment.
Sighing, Emmalee made a decision rather quickly. It was funny how even when there no time, there was an eternity of time right around the corner.
"Umm..sure. Come with me so I can drop my car off at home. I live ten minutes from here, but five minutes from the school. The short walk will seem like an eternity though, I swear."
A small giggle while she grabbed her bag and made her way over to the counter.
"Just..one second.."
Another macchiatto was ordered, because it was true that Emmalee was a complete coffee addict, a coffee-holic as her friends preferred. Paying and grabbing her second cup of coffee from the counter, she smiled at the guy behind the counter before completely turning her attention to Lianna again.
"Ready? Let's go!"
A new friend, it felt nice. She'd give her the number to her cell phone later. Something to use in case she ever became bored or needed advice on one of those big exams given throughout sophomore year. Emmalee knew they'd be split up between friends, but that was to be expected in their clique infested school.

Haylee giggled, running her hand through her hair."Sure." she said, nodding as she walked over to a rather small mirror and looked at her reflection. Her hair needed to be fixed. It was so messy from her hand running through it all the time. She ficed her hair and turned around as soon as she was done.Haylee had no problem with with going to Emmalee's house to drop her car off there and then go to school together. In fact she was happy that she would have some company.Though, she was kind of surprised that she ever made friends with Emmalee. She was supposed to dislike her, and they were so different....or maybe they weren't after all.Maybe they were just two normal girls stuck in different cliques and judged by what clique they are in.
Haylee smiled, looking down.Suddenly, the whole clique thing sounded so stupid and meaningless.Sure, she was happy with being a "sex puppet" but it was just so stupid at this moment.Maybe not the cliques themselves, the unwritten rules of the cliques.Preps don't hang out with outsiders and such things. It kind of annoyed her right now since she had just made a friend from another clique.
"Yep.Ready." Haylee said with a small giggle, heading toward the exit. She paused and turned around to face Emmalee."Would you mind if I asked you to call me Lianna?" she asked, laughing slightly at her own words."I'm starting to think I like that name better and for some weird reason everyone is calling me Haylee." she said.

Emmalee pulled her keys out of her bag, waiting for a brief moment for Haylee to fix her hair, and perfect herself for whatever adventures may have laid ahead for her today. Emmalee had herown adventures to worry about however, possibly including a boy named Griffin Mateo. A gorgeous boy she would have liked to claim for her own, but..it was just a fling..right? It couldn't possibly mean anything, and then..there was Blaine. The cheating ex who haunted her around every corner, nook and cranny. Her heart belonged to him, forever, but she couldn't let him hurt her again, so then, where did that leave her heart, torn between two boys, and if it hadn't been for her distraction between two boys giving her the best of both worlds, she might have noticed the "Aberbrombie Model" standing behind the counter as she was walking out with Haylee.
"Great."
A smile lit up her face as the two girls walked out of the heavenly coffee shop. Emmalee was convinced there was a coffee god. One who supplied all of this heavenly coffee to keep her away and satisfy the taste buds that sat on her tongue.
"hmm.."
She stopped for a moment in the middle of the parking lot, pondering where she had parked her car. It was funny how every time you came to the mall you would swear to remember where you parked your car, but always lost track of it anyway due to the loss of memory of the significant area you'd tried to keep in mind, but forgot due to various distraction you encountered in the mall.
Another smile lit up her face as an idea popped into her pretty little head, and pushing a button on her set of keys, only provided help for her in the form of loud beeps as if a warning alarm were going off, however, it only made it that much easier to find her car, and once she'd made it over to her destination, she pushed the button again, providing silence from the car, and another button unlocked the doors.
It didn't take long after to arrive at her house. Now, for the rest of the journey to their true destination, a school where they would be separated back into their cliques and silly rules, but it didn't mean they'd have to ignore each other on the way.
"Here we are. Home sweet home. It's nothing big or fancy like most of our peer's houses but..it's home. It's bigger than what we need, it's just mom and I..but..the space is nice, a luxury."
After a brief pause of silence and staring at her house, she grabbed her backpack from the back seat and opened her car door, quickly exiting and closing the door behind her, waiting for Haylee to close her door as well before locking the doors.
"We should get going..we're going to be late.."
A brief smile before she began to walk in the direction of the school. It was only a few blocks away.
